James is the head at Brodick Golf Club. He has taught in some of the most prestigious golf clubs around the world and has been fortunate enough to meet many inspiring individuals who have shaped his skills to the point we find today. Nevertheless, the quest for personal development is ongoing and in his spare time James can be found learning from nationally recognised golf instructors to further his skills and experience.
James’ background is college golf in the US and the Applied Golf
Management Studies degree at the University of Birmingham. In
the US, James studied alongside and competed against the likes
of Pablo Larrazabal (European Tour) and Scott Brown (PGA Tour). James went on to compete in various mini tours in the US and more recently, the Tartan Tour in the Scottish PGA region but now focuses predominantly on golf coaching.

The ultimate problem solver- James utilises the latest high-speed video analysis and industry leading golf specific movement screening to develop tailored game improvement packages for each and every client.
James is a fully qualified PGA professional with a strong interest in coaching and developing players of all ages and abilities. James’s background is college golf in the US (USC Aiken - USCB) and the Applied Golf Management Studies degree at the University of Birmingham. James completed a dissertation in golf swing biomechanics using 3D technology to examine the effects of golf specific fitness interventions.
Over the last 3 years at Brodick GC on the magnificent Isle of Arran James developed a range of individual and group coaching programs helping golfers of all ages and abilities play more golf and have more fun on the course where it matters. Alongside other initiatives, the success of these programs was reflected by an increase in membership numbers of 20% alongside greater participation at the club whether on the course or in the clubhouse!
James also likes to compete and has enjoyed a brief spell playing competitions in the Scottish PGA region.
